Nugget of the Day

Nugget of the day: But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. 2 Peter 3:8-9 The hardest thing for most people to do is to wait. We want everything right now, and for the most part, the world has accommodated us. God does not. He has a plan, and it will happen on His timeline. God will not rush things, or let events take place before they are ready. He makes sure He covers all the details and the moment is right. Sometimes we think the moment is right and we become impatient trying to make things happen only to be disappointed because we do not see the results for which we were hoping. Other times we bombard God with prayers, often asking for Him to do something exactly how we want on our timeline. When God finally allows the prayer to be answered we realize His timing was perfect. We may see we were not prepared or we could not have handled the situation at the time. Then when He did answer the prayers, we saw the results we hoped for or God answered them completely different, and the results were better than what we could have expected. The same is true with God’s plan for eternity. God and only God knows when the time is right for the second coming of Christ. He is not telling us, so we need to be prepared. His timing will be perfect. Our God is so loving that He wants all of us to live with Him in eternity and so He waits. Just as God waits to answer our prayers when the time is right, He is waiting to call us all home when the time is right. My prayer tonight is that we realize God’s timing is always better than our timing. God knows what is best for His children, and He will answer our prayers accordingly. We may not always understand the answers, but when He calls us home, it will all make sense. I pray we learn to live on His timeline and not ours. When we do, we will take a lot of pressure off of ourselves and enjoy the journey. Lastly, I pray that we realize God has a timeline for when the second coming of Christ will happen. Let us prepare ourselves daily so that we will be ready when He comes. This is one time we do not want to be unprepared. Tonight spend some time determining if you are living on your timeline or God’s. If you struggle with waiting on Him, ask the Holy Spirit to help you gain the patience needed to heed God’s direction and timing in your life. Spend time regularly making sure that you are preparing yourself for the second coming. Our Father knows what is best for His children and He will not disappoint us when we listen to Him.
